Our Doctors

Dr. Amanda Olsen

Dr. Amanda Olsen knew she wanted to be a veterinarian at the age of 5, and shadowing her local veterinarian during surgery at the age of 11 solidified her passion. A graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with clinical training at Texas A&M, Dr. Olsen is particularly interested in surgery, preventative medicine, and dentistry. Dr. Olsen’s favorite part of being a veterinarian is building lasting relationships with both pets and their families. When she's not at the hospital, you'll find her baking, catching Broadway shows, or at home with her two dogs: Butternut (a rescue from Nevis who loves strawberries) and Dart, her golden retriever who's obsessed with fetch.

Dr. Jason Chin OWNER

Dr. Jason Chin knew he wanted to be a veterinarian as early as third grade, when he wrote it down as his dream career after years of caring for stray cats and being inspired by nature shows. After earning his B.A. in Economics with minors in Math and Computer Science from Hunter College and spending several years in banking, he pursued his true calling at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2013 with honors. His professional interests include surgery, internal medicine and cardiology, ultrasound, dentistry, and urgent care, and he is an active member of the NYS Veterinary Medical Society, Westchester Rockland Veterinary Medical Association, and AVMA. For Dr. Chin, the most meaningful part of being a veterinarian is advocating for the health and wellbeing of pets while connecting with families to find the best possible way to meet their pet’s needs. Having grown up just across the street from where Roots Veterinary Hospital now stands, Dr. Chin has deep ties to Tappan. Building a practice here is his way of giving back to the community that shaped him. At home, he and his wife enjoy life in Tappan with their two children and three pets—Mazie the mixed breed dog, Simone the lop-eared rabbit, and Luna the tabby cat—while he also makes time for CrossFit, running, soccer, golf, music, and traveling.

Our Leadership

Marissa Goldberg Practice Manager

At home, she’s a devoted pet parent to Spirit, a black Labrador; Logan, a majestic long-haired cat; and Sawyer, a sweet orange cat. Marissa thrives on the artistic side of life, bringing warmth, experience, and creative energy to everything she does.

Our Staff

Eliyana Licensed Veterinary Technician

Eliyana has been part of the hospital team since day one. She graduated from SUNY Delhi with a degree in veterinary technology and is a Licensed Veterinary technician, bringing both formal training and compassion to her role. Her passion for animal care was sparked by ASPCA commercials, inspiring her to help pets in need from a young age. She shares her home with two cats she adopted during school: Malibu Bay Breeze, her orange cat, and Mai Tai, her calico cat. Outside of work, Eliyana enjoys traveling and playing video games with friends.

Emily Licensed Veterinary Technician

Emily has been with the hospital since it opened. Before becoming a licensed veterinary technician, she spent two years dog walking and pet sitting while attending tech school. She graduated from veterinary technician school in 2021 and is licensed in her field. Emily has wanted to work with animals ever since she was a little girl, and she brings that lifelong passion to her work every day. She shares her home with Benjamin, a domestic shorthair cat, and Dahlia, a street dog from Puerto Rico. When she's not caring for patients, Emily is usually busy keeping up with her energetic toddler.

Rhiannon Veterinary Assistant

Rhiannon joined the hospital in January 2026. Her background includes shelter medicine, boarding care, and client service, giving her a well-rounded foundation in animal care. She previously worked with Pets Alive, Pet and Play Boarding, Four Legs Good NY/NJ, and The Beacon Vet. Rhiannon plans to attend college in fall 2026 to pursue veterinary medicine and ultimately become a DVM with a specialty in avian medicine. Her love for animal care began early, but she truly found her calling at age 12 when she rescued her first reptile, a leopard gecko. Since then, she has cared for a wide range of animals, including reptiles, birds, and cats. At home, Rhiannon has four cats: Louie, Olive, Tigress, and Benny. In her free time, she enjoys reading books and manga, painting, playing tennis with her partner, and relaxing with video games.

Nathan Receptionist

Nathan joined the hospital on January 19, 2026. Before coming to the veterinary field, he worked in retail, at a grocery store, and at a barn. He also completed a year of art school and is currently enrolled online at Unity Environmental University. Nathan's love for animals goes back as far as he can remember. He spent time at the barn with his late grandfather from the moment he could walk, and those early experiences helped shape the path he's on today. He has a beloved dog named Nachos, a mixed breed with some Jack Russell Terrier, as well as five fancy rats: Miso, Sesame, Oreo, Churro, and Cinder. When he's not at the hospital, Nathan enjoys drawing, playing video games, collecting Pokemon cards, and listening to music.
