As the heartbeat of healing, you are the vital link between the medical team, the patient, and the client. You anticipate needs, calm anxieties, and keep the practice running safely and efficiently. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Medical Excellence & Safety: Follow veterinarian-directed care and professional guidelines. Escalate concerns immediately and own your actions. Handle multiple priorities under pressure while staying composed.

Patient Care & Documentation: Use low-stress restraint techniques for everyone’s protection. Track hospitalized animals and report changes quickly. Maintain complete, accurate patient records.

Clinical Support: Ready rooms, equipment, and supplies for all procedures. Support surgery and dentistry within legal scope. Perform all skills within legal limits and hospital policy.

Client & Team Support: Explain care plans, medications, and follow-up needs. Back up scheduling and client communication as needed. Train paraprofessional teammates when possible.

Operations: Create order from complexity with clear systems and follow-through. Identify root causes and deliver practical, timely solutions. Keep all areas clean, sterile, and organized. Jump in wherever needed to keep operations running smoothly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior veterinary assistant experience preferred, or strong animal-handling background
  • Proficiency with safe restraint, basic patient monitoring, and hospital sanitation
  • Comfort with practice software and standard office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize, and multitask with accuracy
  • Basic math skills for dosing and measurements
  • Eligibility to perform tasks within the state practice act

WORK SETTING

This is a hands-on, active role in a clinical environment. Expect regular standing and walking, teamwork around patients, direct interaction with animals, and occasional lifts up to 50 pounds with assistance or equipment. You will work around clinical equipment, use PPE, and operate in variable noise levels, with periodic computer-based tasks. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography and exposure to radioactive substances. Previous experience with client service is a plus.
